    Locations

I’m a part-time FAA Pilot Examiner. Due to my other full-time commitments I conduct exams primarily at APA, BJC and CFO. Exams beyonds these airports will require a travel fee and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

    Unprepared/Unqualified Fee

A $100 fee may be retained due to the following:

-Applicant’s logbook entries do not demonstrate that he/she has met the aeronautical experience requirements for the desired certificate or rating

-Applicant arrives without required documents including the aircraft maintenance records, proper endorsements, or identification

-Applicant presents unairworthy aircraft (issue known prior to starting the test and easily avoided)

    Retests

Retests completed within 60 days will be charged 50% of exam fee (unless otherwise agreed upon). Retests outside of 60 days are considered new exams and will be charged a full fee.

    Discontinuances

FAA order 8900.2C states the following: The intent must be to complete the entire practical test in one day. The test must not to be planned as a multiple-day event.

Lately I have found many discontinuances to be avoidable. In the case of a discontinuance for unforeseen circumstances I will not charge a fee as long as the test is completed within 60 days. For a avoidable discontinuance a $200 exam fee is charged. Travel Fees still apply to all discontinuances regardless of reason outside of APA, BJC and CFO.

    Valid Reasons (unforeseen circumstances)

    -Unforecast Weather

-Mechanical Issue develops during the exam

    -Unexpected illness

    -Personal situation

    Invalid Reasons (foreseen circumstances)

-Weather unsuitable and forecasted to be unsuitable during scheduled block time of test.

-Unairworthy aircraft (known and avoidable issue detected after beginning practical test)
